Unreasonably popular
DESCRIPTION: Maybe it's the Nascar races, maybe it's the "award-winning" wings the place advertises that draws so many in. As I've indulged in neither one. I don't know, but I can't believe it would be the sandwiches. I stopped in for a takeout lunch one afternoon with a friend. I ordered the egg salad sandwich, she the veggie. With only about three or four other customers in the place, how long could that take? Plenty of time, it turns out. It took about a half hour to get our meals, and they certainly weren't worth the wait. The egg salad was serviceable, but awkwardly heaped upon a dry, stale white hoagie roll. The accompanying lettuce was slimy and beginning to brown. My friend had the same awkwardness with her sandwich: same stale bread and generally unsatisfied with the flavor, quantity, and quality of the veggies.

Price the best feature
DESCRIPTION: Savannah's specializes in a cheap buffet featuring 4 meats and 11 vegetables, although what constitutes a vegetable is debatable. Health food it is not, as the theme is hearty southern fried dishes. That said, the fried okra and corn nuggets are good, and surprisingly, so are the boxed mashed potatoes. The peach cobbler dish is sweet and filling, and soft serve ice cream is available. The pancakes are lackluster but serviceable and cane syrup is available in addition to maple. The big glasses of ice cold tea and soda are great.

DESCRIPTION: This is by far one of the least competent Subways I've ever visited, which is saying something since the Tallahassee-area Subways as a whole are pretty abysmal service-wise. The main problem is that the staff works on Havana time, as if you the customer couldn't possibly have anything else to do with your day. The food quality is generally predictable--decent mass-produced Subway ingredients--however, I was there on one occasion when all of the greens (shredded iceberg, salad lettuce mix, and spinach) were terribly wilted and beginning to brown. It was disgusting, and no apologies were forthcoming.

Quality Cuisine Paired with an Excellent Atmosphere
DESCRIPTION: Bellas, which is situated in historic Havana, Florida has pleasured my palate on all three pilgrimages I have made. The cuisine is primarily continental European with an Italian bent which is rare and refreshing is this region of the country. All the dishes I have tasted have been excellent in both presentation and preparation. However, what really establishes Bellas as a most try it the atmosphere. They have a beautiful courtyard, which often features local music acts, in addition to interior seating. The waitstaff is prompt and courteous, embellishing an excellent meal with a grand experience.

The place to be
DESCRIPTION: I thought that this restaurant was wonderful. It is a good change of pace. The food, service, and atmosphere are excellent. I have never had a bad visit. If you are looking for great Italian food, this is the place to be.

Skip the pizza
DESCRIPTION: Unfortunately, Rick's is the sole pizza purveyor in Havana. Their pizza is low quality, consisting of a cardboard-like crust, plain, unspiced tomato sauce, and ho-hum toppings. I can only rate the place on the pizza, as I haven't tried anything else yet. I'll probably go back and try the fried corn on the cob.
